New economic development council, strategy unveiled


In the shadow of scaffolding, bricklayers paused for a moment at the Shops in Willow Park when the announcement was made of the formation of a new economic development council and its strategy.

On Friday, business leaders and stakeholders in Parker County launched a new economic development initiative geared toward more cohesive and less fragmented growth.

Work On Rowlett’s Ambitious ‘Bayside’ To Begin In March


Officials in the city of Rowlett say construction on a sprawling mixed-use development project along the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard will begin in March.

Also planned are improvements to Interstate-30 between Dallas and Rockwall to accommodate expected traffic to the “Bayside” community south of the highway.

Bayside — a $1 billion lagoon-anchored development near Lake Ray Hubbard in Rowlett — has landed a new landscape architecture firm, which will design the master plan for the 262-acre lakeside project.

Newport Beach-based Lifescapes International was selected to oversee the landscape architecture at Bayside, which will feature the first Crystal Lagoon in Texas.

Lifescapes International, a Newport Beach-based landscape architectural firm, has been selected to design the overall landscape environment for Bayside, the $1 billion master-planned development encompassing 262 acres that is planned to feature a variety of retail, restaurants, residential units, and a resort hotel in the Lake Ray Hubbard area of Rowlett, Texas.

Construction Set To Start In March On Rowlett’s Crystal Lagoon


Developers plan to start work in March on the huge Crystal Lagoon waterpark and fountains that will be built east of Dallas on Lake Ray Hubbard.

California-based architects Lifescapes International said Monday that they’ve been hired to design the overall landscape of the $1 billion Bayside development in Rowlett, which will include the Crystal Lagoon.

Company To Change Willow Park Horse Track To New Development


For years folks have driven past the old Trinity Meadows horse track just off of I-20 in Willow Park and wondered what will ever become of the property. Now they have an answer. Wilks Development, out of Cisco, has plans for a mixed-use development that will encompass approximately 224 acres. This includes the former horse track that was open from 1991-96.

Willow Park Moves Towards Town Center


The creation of Willow Park’s new town center could be on the horizon following a town hall session and regular meeting Tuesday night, in which the city council authorized rezoning the land formerly known as Trinity Meadows Raceway to a “planned development district,” and approved an ordinance creating a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone.
